Gearing up for the City2Surf with Nimble Activewear

Established in Bondi in 2014, Nimble Activewear quickly became a go-to for locals.

And while its reach extends far beyond our suburb these days, the brand continues to play an active role in the community via empowering, movement focused events – think coastal runs, Sunday pilates sessions, and run clubs in collaboration with fellow Bondi business, Will & Co.

There's also, of course, the City2Surf, which wraps up in Bondi. So, in the lead up to this year’s event, which is happening on Sunday 10th August, we caught up with the Nimble's Co-Founders – who are also longtime friends – Katia Santilli and Vera Yan.

Read on as they reveal their activewear picks for the big day, what's happening at Nimble's store on Hall St post-race, and more.

What inspired the launch of Nimble?

Nimble was born from the frustration that activewear was either functional or fashionable, never both – so, we made it!

Why did you decide on Bondi for your first bricks-and-mortar store?

Born at our kitchen tables in Bondi, it felt only natural to open our first store and office in the heart of where it all began.

What role does the suburb play in the brand's operations today?

The lifestyle and fashion of our Bondi locals constantly inspire us. Some of our best product insights come from conversations at community events – guiding our designers to create pieces our customers genuinely want.

Conscious practices underlie all aspects of Nimble, how do you strive to uphold this?

We continue to focus on lightening activewear's environmental impacts by staying on top of evolving sustainable fabrics and techniques. You can read more about our conscious practices via a dedicated page on our website.

Which Nimble pieces would you say are perfect for race day?

Anything from our In Tempo range, all of which is designed with compressive-eco, lightweight fabrics, flattering seams and storage solutions – so you can just focus on the race at hand.

Katia's personal favourite is the No Bounce Bra, and it does exactly that! It's our number one selling sports bra.

Vera's favourite is the In Tempo Run Around Runsie, it's an amazing all-in-one with lightweight woven shorts, in-built racer back bra and even a back phone pocket.

How is Nimble activating around the day this year?

This year we are partnering with Fayshell, a local wellness brand, offering free express facials and 15% off all products to City2Surf participants.

Facial bookings are now open, and can made over on our website.

Looking ahead, which activewear trends do you see emerging (or remaining) for spring/summer?

Versatile pieces that solve customers' needs whilst having longevity and staying power beyond trends.
